


Description
This hands-on MIT course is designed to familiarize you with implant components both surgically and prosthetically. Also, the goal is for you to gain comfort with the procedures outlined below. Those of you with dental implant experience will gain tips and tricks from our experienced clinicians. Given the synergy between surgery and prosthetics, it’s essential to understand both, regardless of your area of interest.
The following model-based procedures will be included in the hands-on instruction:
1) Review anatomy and surgical protocol
2) Place 2 implants for mandibular overdenture
3) Place single implants
4) Suturing procedures on a soft tissue model
5) Temporary crown fabrication
6) Place, pick up, and size locators for mandibular overdentures
Educational Objectives:
After this hands-on course, participants will be able to:
- Review key anatomical considerations and surgical protocols for implant placement
- Understand and be familiar with the instrumentation for the surgical placement of single and multiple implants
- Understand principles of soft tissue suturing techniques
- Fabricate temporary crowns for implant restorations
- Understand how to choose locator attachment sized for implant overdentures and perform conventional dentures conversion.
- Understand the synergy between surgical and prosthetic phases in implant treatment planning
CE Credits
- 3 hours of implant surgery
- 5 hours of implant prosthodontics
